February 10, 2000, Taipei, Taiwan – Giga-ByteTechnology Co., Ltd. (
www.gigabyte.com) todayannounces GA-6CXC7 motherboard. The first universalsocket 370 with 4 DIMMs design motherboard based onthe new Intel 820 chipset. Intel 820 chipset supportsmany new features, like 133MHz FSB (Front Side Bus),PC 100 SDRAM via MTH (Memory Transfer Hub), 4XAGP, ATA 66, AC 97 (Software audio), HSP (HostSignal Processing) modem (AMR).
Unlike GA-6CX7 motherboard, which supports RIMM(Rambus In-Line Memory Module), GA-6CXC7 is buildwith MTH, which can support PC100 DIMM. This boardis targeting users who require 4x AGP slot, ATA 66 HD support, but do not want topay the premium for the Rambus memory. In addition to these advanced featuresalready supported by Intel 820 chipset, GA-6CXC7 also added many features thatmeet your requirement now and extend to the future, these improvements are 4 USBports, build in famous Creative CT5880 (SB PCI 128) hardware audio with EAXsupport, DualBIOS™ technology, Suspend to RAM (STR), color coded I/O connector,LDCM, SIV, health monitoring hardware, adjustable CPU core voltage, and variablefront side bus speed setting. GA-6CXC7 also ship with AGP 4X retentionmechanism, foldable CPU retention mechanism. GA-6CXC7 also supports Wake onLAN and Alert on LAN. With all these advanced features on the Giga-ByteGA-6CXC7 motherboard, it gives you the future computing power today.
GA-6CXC7 has the Intel 820 chipset with the 133MHz-system clock (with ability toadjust the voltage and set the system bus up to 150MHz) and supports Intel Celeron, and Pentium III family Processor chips from 300MHz all the way up to 1GHz, withuniversal socket 370. The GA-6CXC7 has main bus clock speed of 100/133 MHz,a clock multiplier of 3.0 / 3.5 /4.0 / 4.5 / 5.0/ 5.5 all the way up to 8.0. On thismotherboard it has 4 PC100, 164 pin DIMM sockets, supports SDRAM memorymodule from 64MB to 512MB, with a maximum total memory of 1GB. The chipsetconsists of the Intel 820 AGP set, Creative CT5880 for great EAX sound solution. What a great combination, it's right on the cutting edge.
To go on, there is one AGP Pro slot with AGP Pro retention mechanism (to keepyour AGP card from popping out during shipping) for your demanding 3D Videoapplication, one AMR slot for your software modem riser card, five PCI slots give youthe most flexible expansion. It supports 2 UDMA/66 IDE ports (up to 4 Ultra ATA66 Devices), four USB Ports to satisfy the up trend of the USB devices (two in the front and two in the back), PS/2 mouse and keyboard. There is support on themain board for 3 fans speed detection, 1 CPU, 1 power supply fan, and 1 case fan. There is a sensor under the processor, which is in contact with the processor. It willsense the temperature of the CPU and send it to the CMOS for you to see. Youcan set your limits on the temperature and have it give you an alarm if it's beyondthat setting. The good thing did not stop here; this board also can detect the powersupply voltage, CPU voltage, and also the fan rotation speed. All this informationnot only can be found inside the CMOS setting, it also can be display underWindows 95/98 and Windows NT by running the Gigabyte's SIV (System InformationViewer) or the Intel's LDCM (LANDesk Client Manager) software. With all theseSystem Health monitoring functions added to this board, you never have to worryabout your system will fail due to CPU overheat. There is also a buzzer built on theboard, so you don't have to use the case speaker. Keyboard, mouse, LAN, RTCAlarm, and Modem Ring can power the computer up.
