August 8, 2024 – Giga Computing, a subsidiary of GIGABYTE and an industry leader in generative AI servers and advanced cooling technologies, today released two GIGABYTE R-series servers (R183-ZK0 and R283-ZK0) with enhanced performance and reliability for cloud services and data-intensive applications. These highly scalable memory capacity servers support AMD EPYC™ 9004 processors and are ready for select 5th generation AMD EPYC processors with up to 192 CPU cores.
These new GIGABYTE servers are the first and only ones in the market that are one node with two CPUs that support 48 memory DIMMs. GIGABYTE’s rich history in motherboard design and engineering with great signal integrity make this possible, a server with 12TB memory using 256GB DDR5 3DS RDIMMs. To accommodate a 12-memory channel platform with a 2DPC configuration and without compromising, a new memory layout was developed.
R183-ZK0-LAJ1: 1U, direct liquid cooling (DLC) solution
For the greatest compute density possible for CPU and memory-intensive workloads, GIGABYTE R183-ZK0 delivers by supporting AMD’s full portfolio of its latest and upcoming AMD EPYC processors. Using the established DLC technology that has been making data centers green, this GIGABYTE solution incorporates its own cold plate technology to maximize performance and energy efficiency. This allows a single server node to process large data sets efficiently or host multiple virtual machines with steady performance.
R283-ZK0-AAL1: 2U, air cooling solution
Fitting into the traditional air cooling infrastructure of data centers, GIGABYTE R283-ZK0 employs a powerful fan solution to drive a high volume of air in and out of the server to allow all components achieve peak performance. This new R283 series server has twelve 2.5” storage bays for Gen5 NVMe and SATA drives to aid in managing and accessing large volumes of data efficiently. And to support greater networking devices, there are four additional FHHL slots and two more for OCP 3.0 devices.

Incorporating a “zigzag” layout to the memory slots gives users a lot of options in terms of configuration and expansion. Users can have a system that is highly scalable for memory capacity and performance. The large of amount RAM helps run more virtual machines simultaneously or it could be used in big data analytics for in-memory processing of large datasets.
