There’s an old saying, “the quality is hidden in the details”
that basically means ‘that which is not easily seen can be
easily ignored’. As the leader in motherboard innovation, GIGABYTE pays
special attention to detail in order to provide customers with premium quality
motherboards. |

At Computex 2007, GIGABYTE introduced the Ultra Durable 2 series of motherboards with significantly increased quality due to
their Ferrite Core Chokes, Lower RDS(on) MOSFETs and Lower ESR Japanese Solid Capacitors. Then in 2008, while other motherboard
brands were starting to implement these features, GIGABYTE engineers were already developing the next generation of
motherboard quality standards – Ultra Durable 3 with 2x Copper PCBs.
"Doubling the amount of copper lowers the PCB impedance by 50%," explains Mr. Richard Chen, VP of Motherboard Research of
Development at GIGABYTE Technology. Impedance is a measure of how much the circuit impedes the flow of current; the less the
flow of current is impeded, the less energy is wasted. "Another major benefit of 2x copper PCBs is that they are cooler; not only do
they generate less heat due to less impedance, they also conduct heat away from the warm components so they can enjoy a longer
lifetime, and that’s where the better quality that Ultra Durable 3 offers really makes sense."
"A PCB with double the copper may not be as easy to promote as, for example, an easily recognizable solid capacitor, but our
customers will experience the difference 2 or 3 years after their purchase when their system is as reliable as the day they bought it,"
he continues. "We have made it our mission to continually look for new innovations that improve the quality of our motherboards
because in the PC component business there is no better brand than a good quality product!"
Today as we approach Computex 2010, GIGABYTE continues to deliver a full range of high quality Ultra Durable 3 motherboards
despite the recent economic crisis that forced many brands to move to cheaper designs and components. "At GIGABYTE we have
found that producing a better quality product actually saves money in reduced after sales support while also investing significantly
in our quality brand. Our reputation as the leader in motherboard innovation drives us to continually raise the bar for top quality motherboards and we will never stop looking for ways to improve the quality of our motherboard designs." |
